Initial Response

My initial response

My first reaction to the main task was that I was shocked at how short the time limit was for the product. At GCSE level we were given a maximum of three minutes so fitting in a large variety of cinematography and editing techniques into a shorter product will be a lot more difficult but I am up for the challenge! I am also very excited that the genre is thriller because it is one of my favourite movie genres and also I believe that my experience of creating a crime drama opening sequence for my GCSE piece will benefit me hugely. I think that I will be able to create a tense, gripping final product and I'm very enthusiastic and can't wait to get started.

Main Task Explanation

For my main task I will need to create the titles and opening sequence of a new thriller film, to last a maximum of two minutes. All video and audio material must be original, produced by me, with the exception of music or audio effects from a copyright free source.

Preliminary Task Explanation

For my preliminary task I had to film and edit a short product and show continuity by using three specific editing techniques. These were: match on action, 180 degree rule and the shot reverse shot. I also had to record the process using blogger. The reason I did the preliminary task was to familiarise myself with blogger and also to practice my editing and filming skills to ensure that they are at the highest possible standard for my main task. I'm very pleased with my preliminary task overall and I now feel more confident about tackling the main task.
